Seaweed Serum too thick?

Happy New year to all of my incredible supporters!

It is so great that you all appreciate what I do and I really appreciate your support, understanding and interest -as well as your feedback.

On that note..

My latest batch of Seaweed Serum (SWSLB45609) is a little thicker than usual. This is a good thing, believe it or not, but it makes it trickier to squeeze from the pipette.

Until I can find a better viscosity testing instrument than my eye and a weighing scales, this may happen occasionally. It is easily remedied, but takes a little patience.

The easiest thing is to bring it to me and I will add a little hydrosol and begin to sort it for you.. It will take a day or two for the carraigin to take up the extra water.

However, if you can't get to see me, please follow these instructions!

1. Boil the kettle

2. Pour boiling water over and into 2 small clean jugs or glasses to sterilise. Then empty the vessels.

3. Make sure all surfaces and your hands are as clean as possible.

4. Pour a little of the boiling water into one vessel, preferably the jug. Allow to cool to under 40 C. This is about the same temperature as the inside of your arm below the elbow when you touch it off the vessel.

5. Open the serum and put the pipette into the cooled water to draw it up. If this is too difficult, put the pipette into the other sterile vessel and pour the water directly into the bottle.

6. Add the cooled water to the seaweed serum so you can see it just under the neck of the bottle. This will only be about 5mls. It will fit because the serum will have contracted as it cures.

7. Replace the pipette, tighten and shake vigorously.

8. Leave for a day or so, shaking occasionally.

9. Open the bottle and squeeze the pippette several times to emit the serum. And draw up the more dilute serum.

10. This shaking and drawing up part will need repeating a few times over a day or two.

If you have hydrosol, you can use this either (normally peppermint or rose pelargonium).

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Remember, this is a home produced and natural product, so it will vary at times. Understanding the product and how to manage it is important. That's how the good stuff works.

Meanwhile, I'm on the hunt for a viscosity testing instrument, which is not as simple as it sounds.

I'll be at Hellen's Produce Market tomorrow, Saturday January 4th from 9.30am to 11.30am. Hopefully I'll see you then.

Otherwise, I am hoping to have a quiet January for some much needed rest, before I begin some new formulations and planning for 2025.

My very best to you all and here is hoping for a really good 2025 for us all. It is much needed for so many.
