Bay Laurel Essential Oil
Essential oil of bay is known for its delicious aromatic properties, and is an easy way to understand and integrate this intense flavour into your cooking. I get only a tiny amount of this oil, but the hydrosol is powerful and well worth using for cooking and aromatherapy. I add the hydrosol to homemade soaps to help treat eczema and it seems to have a good effect. Still testing!
Around the world, it is used to treat gastrointestinal problems, including epigastric bloating and flatulence. It is also used to treat epilepsy, neuralgia and Parkinsons symptoms. There is little evidence to support these treatments, mainly because few studies have been carried out, and where they have, differing strains of the plant grown in different countries, produce different results.
Laboratory studies show that it is antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory, so may be useful in the treatment of related conditions.
For its aromatic properties, it is used in the cosmetic industry. The bonus is that the properties that treat microbes and fungi, aid in the treatment of skin and hair conditions such as dandruff and psoriasis when integrated into soaps and creams.
There is a dearth of research on this plant. Please click here for more information.
Harvested once the bees have had their fill, this pure form of oil from a primary distillation is the very best I have ever tried. Feel it between your fingers and you will immediately know the difference. Unlike commercial oils, it feels oily. The aroma is intoxicating.
Presented in green 5ml and 10ml bottles. My favourite is, yes -you guessed -green.
If you would like a larger volume, please get in touch. I am limited to what I can grow.
