Seaweed Serum
This is a very popular product. I was trying to work out how to make hyaluronic acid, which is often not an ethical product as it is manufactured from shellfish from Iceland, or fish skins. It is really hydrating for skin, but very expensive to buy.
I was also reading about collagen boosting ingredients and cell repair catalysts for skin. Vitamin A, C and E, as well as collagen itself are recommended for this, but how to achieve it? I considered processing the fish skins from the trout we catch for our household consumption. As I dug into these properties and where they are found, I realised that they are all in abundance in Carraigin Moss. I have just brought some back from Ireland.
So, I spent some time working out how to process it. I guess the result is a rustic version of those very expensive serums that you can get in the chemist or beauticians. It works just as well and is really refreshing to use.
The effect on tired skin is quite remarkable. I use it under my moisturiser daily. It hydrates and tightens everything up, so those lines and shadows are improved almost instantly after a sleepless night or too much partying.
The original is made with peppermint, so very cooling and works well for sunburn and itching to soothe and heal. For troublesome skin issues such as eczema, it works well in combination with Coolio Cream.
Now also available in Lemon Balm. Lemon balm is in the mint family, so has very similar properties. it is known for its soothing effect on the skin and promotion of healing and calmness.
Over 70% of this cream is comprised of plant material from our garden. I feel really great about this. The other ingredients are sourced from as organic and ethical sources as possible, including the seaweed in it, which is hand-harvested and organic. This is important because many commercial sources of seaweed are destroying our kelp forests.
All my creams are packed with plant material and only have very ecological and mild preservative. This means they have a short life. So, once you hava cream, use generously and enjoy. Store in a cool place and out of direct sunlight to help them last a little longer.

The process I use to extract the properties from seaweed to make this amazing skin product is all by hand. The magic is to get as much of the carrageen as possible in solution in the hydrosol. This means that the serum is a thick, viscose liquid. The thicker, the better for your skin!
However, sometimes it can be difficult to extract from the bottle. If this is the case, you can add a little cooled down water after you have boiled it, or some hydrosol (I recomment peppermint of rose pelargonium). Or yuo can bring it to me and I will add a little hydrosol for you.
